(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 01, 2021 ) August 18, 2021 – Denver, CO and Nottingham, MD – Outskirts Press—the fastest-growing, full-service self-publishing and book marketing company—is pleased to announce the release of a new novel by Chidera Michaels. The Horn of Office tells the story of a Nigerian immigrant who finds himself in a web of deceit, greed and murderous intent.

Udem has made his way from Nigeria into the USA with the help of Jima, his former schoolmate. To obtain a Green Card, Jima persuades Suzie, his business partner, to “marry” Udem. Soon thereafter Suzie and Jima are arrested on drug charges, tried and sentenced to prison. Suzie dies in prison under questionable circumstances. Following her death, Udem is surprised to learn that he is heir to Suzie’s sizeable savings in offshore accounts. When Suzie’s brothers discover the phony marriage and Udem’s possible right to the money, they want him dead in order to keep what is theirs.

Years later, Udem, now a Christian minister, is married to Pam, Suzie’s cousin. Pam is a banker who had helped Suzie and Jima launder their drug money in offshore banks. For her “betrayal,” Suzie’s brothers want Pam dead too. Tired of everything, Udem and Pam decide to move to Udem’s native Nigeria. There, Udem learns that he has been chosen by the town’s deity to head its shrine as the chief priest. Udem tells the elders to go to hell, but the elders plot to forcibly install him as the priest. Meanwhile, Wahab, Suzie’s surviving sibling, breaks out of prison and heads to Nigeria to kill the couple.
