Fiberglass Roving Market by Fiber Glass Type (E, ECR, H, AR, S),Product Type(Single-end, Multi-end, Chopped),End-use Industry (Transportation, Construction, Electrical & Electronics, Pipe & Tank, Wind, Aerospace, Marine),and Region Global Forecast to 2023

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 30, 2021 ) Fiberglass roving is a loosely associated bundle of untwisted strands of glass fiber. Usually, rovings consist of 300 to 4,800 glass fiber strands with a diameter ranging from 4 to 13 microns. The size of glass fiber is selected based on the type of application and resin used. Fiberglass roving offers a superior processing range, providing low fuzz under various tension levels, fast wetting, smooth surface, and is lightweight. The use of fiberglass roving is increasing due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion & thermal resistance, and low cost. In addition, its properties allow radio signals to pass through, making it the ideal material for aircraft radar dome, antennae, and printed circuit boards (PCB). The fiberglass roving market is projected to reach USD 11.02 billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 6.0% between 2018 and 2023.

The fiberglass roving market in APAC is projected to register the highest CAGR during the forecast period, in terms of value and volume. The growth of the APAC fiberglass roving market can be attributed to its increasing demand from the transportation, construction & infrastructure, and wind energy, among others.

The fiberglass roving market, by end use industry, is divided into eight segments, namely, transportation, construction & infrastructure, electrical & electronics, pipes & tanks, marine, aerospace & defense, wind energy, and others. The market in the wind energy end-use industry is expected to witness the highest growth rate, in terms of value and volume, during the forecast period. Wind turbine blades are the key components in the wind power generation system. Fiberglass roving in wind turbine blades is widely used in the development of large-scale wind turbines. The R&D focus of blade manufacturers has mainly been on reducing the cost of wind energy. This is driving the use of fiberglass roving composite, as it is less costly than other fibers without compromising on its high-performance property.

Fiberglass roving majorly consists of two glass fiber types, namely, general purpose and special purpose. The general purpose fibers are E-glass and ECR-glass fibers and the special purpose fibers are S-glass, D-glass, S-glass, C-glass, and AR-glass fibers. The general purpose E-glass fiber is majorly used in manufacturing fiberglass roving material and is further utilized to cater to an array of applications in the marine, wind energy, and electrical & electronics industries. The special purpose fibers are relatively higher in cost and are used in high-performance applications in the aerospace & defense and transportation industries.

The fiberglass roving market is segmented on the basis of product type into single-end roving, multi-end roving, and chopped roving. The single-end fiberglass roving segment is expected to hold dominant share in the market due to its wide applications and excellent processing and operational stability. It is expected to witness the highest growth rate, in terms of value and volume, during the forecast period.

The increasing demand from emerging economies is one of the major opportunities for the market. China, India, and Brazil are expected to drive the demand for fiberglass roving in the next five years. Majority of the demand is expected to be from the wind energy and transportation end-use industries owing to the high growth of manufacturing activities in these countries.
