Outskirts Press announces the release of John Griffith's latest fiction Gulf Thunder

A psychopathic narcissist lies his way to industrial power and wealth—at the expense of everyone who stands in his way. Gulf Thunder is a raucous tale about an explosive time in an untamed future paradise.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 01, 2022 ) Denver, CO and St. Petersburg, FL – Outskirts Press—the fastest-growing, full-service self-publishing and book marketing company—is pleased to announce the release of John Griffith’s latest fiction. Gulf Thunder is a tale of greed, lust and violence in west central Florida in the early twentieth century.

In 1898, Tampa Bay, Florida, is a land full of promise to enterprising souls who can see beyond the palmetto- and insect-crowded jungle. Clifford Austin, a young man transplanted by his luckless parents, exhibits a ferocious desire to surpass any competitor as he builds an empire building boats in the nascent town of St. Petersburg. He designs and builds small pleasure and commercial craft well into the 1920s, when design and capabilities are progressing in leaps and bounds. His relentless acquisitiveness leads to attempts to bed every woman he meets and dominate every man he knows.

Austin makes a string of decisions resulting in a conflict that may be his undoing. But he thrives on conflict, whether internal or external, even if he doesn’t necessarily seek it, and his intense narcissism and sociopathic tendencies guide his every action in business and romantic endeavors.

“Not for now, Carl, I think we’ve reached a dead end. I’m certain that Austin had something to do with this but barring an eyewitness, I think we’re done. I’m going to keep my eye on him though. I’ve run into his type before. He is cunning and extremely clever when protecting himself from criticism. He gets lots of practice because he believes everyone is after him. He will slip up sometime about something, and I want to be there when he does. I’ll be watching him, for as long as it takes.”
