Near infrared imaging market is projected to reach USD 471.2 Million by 2020
The global near infrared imaging market is projected to reach USD 471.2 Million by 2020, at a CAGR of 8.8% from 2015 to 2020.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 25, 2018 ) Fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging are the two types of optical imaging techniques. Fluorescence imaging is based on the light emitted by the excited flourochromes inside the subject upon excitation from an external light source. However, the recent trend is towards the use of near infrared dyes and infrared fluorescent proteins (700 nm-800 nm), as they are much more feasible for imaging due to much lower autoflourescence of tissue and deeper tissue penetration at these wavelengths. On the other hand, bioluminescence imaging is based on light generated by chemiluminescent enzymatic reactions.

The global near-infrared imaging market is expected to witness growth in coming years owing to factors such as increase in the number of initiatives undertaken by governments of various countries to ensure availability of near-infrared imaging for research purpose, rise in cancer cases, and advantage over other imaging methods. However, the acquisition cost of near-infrared imaging devices is higher, which may inhibit the market growth.
Global near infrared imaging market is broadly classified on the basis of product type, application, end user, and geography. Based on product type, the market is broadly segmented into near-infrared fluorescence imaging, near infrared fluorescence & bioluminescence imaging devices, and reagents. The reagents segment contributed the largest share of the market in 2014. The regions covered in this report are North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest of the World (RoW). North America accounted for the largest share of the global market in 2014.
The report also provides a detailed competitive landscape of companies operating in this market. Segment and country-specific company shares, new product launches, M&A, and product approvals of the major companies would be detailed Biospace Lab (France), Fluoptics (France), Mizuho Corporation (Japan), Li-Cor, Inc.
