After honing his skills as a manager of capital projects in the United States Dr. Blanchard had the good fortune to take these skills to places like India, the Dominican Republic, Iraq and Iran and in particular Saudi Arabia where these skills had not yet been finely developed. It allowed him to ultimately manage some of the world’s largest petroleum project including more than doubling the oil processing capacity of the world’s largest energy producer, Saudi Aramco. He describes his adventures in all of these far flung lands with the people he’s met and his personal experiences that few have had or will ever have the opportunity.
On his retirement he went back to school to earn his PhD and consult on the management of capital projects in places like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Oman, Armenia, and Romania and most extensively in Egypt. Later in life he reflected on the changes he witnessed in the land where he was born when he returned after more than 20 years abroad it resulted in discovering why we are suffering some of the problems in our society. They resulted in the production of two earlier books, The Real Economy and The Constitution-A Document Steeped in History and a Compromise Devoid of Promise. In them he describes why our present economy is doomed to fail and how politicians have emasculated the Constitution in order to unequally distribute nature’s assets.
His story is one of successes that few have the opportunity to achieve. It was Horace Greeley who believed success could be achieved by going west. Dr. Blanchard headed east and says, “I will never regret the change in direction”.
